Dealing with Rejection

I’m currently making over 120 cold calls a day. With that comes a lot of rejection. On average, about 10% of the people I connect with say yes. The rest don’t. And some of those rejections can be downright horrible.

That’s the hardest part. Not just hearing “no”, but dealing with people who shout, swear, or treat you badly. It can be tough to react with a positive mindset when you’re on the receiving end of that.

One thing I’ve learned, though, is this: if someone rejects you nastily, you should actually feel better off. If they’re so unprofessional that they can’t even say no respectfully, they’re not the kind of person you want to work with anyway. They won’t be successful long term, and you don’t want to be dealing with them.

Most rejections are fair enough. You can live with those. It’s the horrid ones that scare people. But ironically, those should be the easiest to live with. If someone is unprofessional, it’s pretty obvious you should just move on and not waste another second on them.
