Dealing with unproductive days

When you start a company, you will have days and months when you won’t achieve much. The reasons why are many. But if you look deeper, all days are productive in some way.

Take today. I changed the industry I targeted. After you make a change like this, you have to adjust many different areas as well. For example, you need to find new prospects, change the outreach you do, etc.

These changes take time. Time when I wasn’t selling or building my service. This made today, and me, feel unproductive, but that’s untrue. Ironically, when I look at this day in more depth, it might be the most productive day I’ve had in months – perhaps ever!

What happens if this pivot is what makes everything tick and sends my company on its way?

My takeaway: No day truly goes nowhere if you choose to see the value in it.

The best way to deal with unproductive, bad, or demoralising days is to look for the best in them.

Seeing the best in things is key to keeping going for the long term. And if you want to do great things, you have to stick with them for a while.
